Scarce nuh rass….

Yes, I know I am but I told y’all it was going to be like that. Jus a whole heap o tings a gwaan consuming my time….and as much as I enjoy the interaction, blogging is way down in terms of its priority…..

Anyway, here I am trying to put some words together while having some beef soup fe mi dinner. I see fasta dan lightening Asafa P has been nominated for a Laureus Award to rahtid. Hope you get it my yute……you been up to some good stuff. And of course, all kinda preparations are in gear for the not too far away World Cup Cricket. I still naw feel nuh vibes ’bout it as cricket has never been up there as a sport for me. Maybe that has just a little to do with the fact that when I was about fifteen, one summer day when all of us were on holidays from school we decided to play a ’scrimmage’ cricket match next door. I was fielding at the time. A ball was bowled and the yute who was at the crease gave the ball one claat of a lick (woulda been a six). Now, the ball was coming right in my corner of the ‘hood (thats a pun btw, you’ll soon find out why). Not wanting to let my side down, I made a valiant attempt to stop the ball preventing the yute from getting more than one run. The ball bounced a few yards in front of me (and dat rass was real!) and the next thing I knew was that MY BALLS felt as if they had been licked for six!!!! Man never have nuh seed guard, so de bredrins can understand my agony…..

I fell to the ground and curled up in pain feeling for my jewels as I thought they might have been torn out from their usual scrotal skin! Luckily they weren’t but that was the last day that I got friendly with a cricket ball. So much for cricket balls, or balls of another type….. Anyhow, with all the expenditure that is taking place for us to host this in the region, I hope we will see some positive economic returns.

The weather has become very hot in the last two days. Up to weekend gone, the nights were still nice and cool, but some heat a lick now…felt like summer this afternoon and the place well dry. A shower of rain would be welcome now. Anyway, as I done nyam mi dinner and I runnin outta wah fe seh (this was really supposed to be a hail up) I flashing again….till when next…and I have no clue when that will be. Tek care…..

What to write…

Boy, I really been absent but I know that I had hinted (quite strongly, and on more than one occasion) that that would be the scheme of things ’round here. Pressures of daily living been tekkin its toll. Man jus busy….

Trip to Ft. Lauderdale was short and busy, and on top of it, I caught the flu while there. I accomplished what I went for, but really didn’t get much calling up of friends done. In addition, mi bredrin Dr. Spanish was outta town in California. Next time I will try to get more linkages done….

I been enjoying the new wheels. Smooth, wikid set, nuff power.

There are other things I could write about, but brain here jus a leggo nuff gas…probably I should just leave you and wish you a Happy Valentine’s Day….the ladies of course. More time…..

Jus a check een…

Bwoy, weekend gone was a helluva one. Started with a cocktail function Friday nite, which wasn’t three bad at all. Left there at about 11 PM, linked some bredrins and passed thru some of Kingston’s night time entertainment spots. Seemed the city was a bit on a lull, but enjoyed what was taken een nevertheless. Made it home at about 3:30 AM….hit the sheets to get some rest in time for the Saturday and Sunday of being on call.

Lo and behold, at 8:00 AM…still not rested enuff, the land line at the yard rings. Was mi boss calling me to ask if I had heard about the resignation of the CEO from the hospital. Course, I was clueless. Neither of us really shedding any tears on that note still, as for reasons unknown to us, a lotta phuckries was being hurled at our service from her. We who with a very small staff service so many patients (and we won’t even bodda mention the heap o staff members we see….frig it, I did mention it!)

Anyhow, we had nine patients in hospital under our care. Saturday afternoon, I increased that number to ten by admitting a lady. Won’t get into her diagnosis, as it would involve too much explanation to non medics like most of you. Anyhow, I did what I needed to with her, carried out my investigations and instituted a treatment regime. Within a few hours, nurses call me to say the lady unresponsive!? I was quite perturbed…..I left the woman fully conscious and alert about four hours ago…what the rass could have made her become unresponsive?

Well, I pressed out the Accord to get up there and indeed, when I arrived, woman not responding to verbal or painful stimuli, and looking at her pupils, already fixed and dilated with no response to light!!?? So, seems lady had some terminal event….we feel either a Massive Pulmonary Embolus (clot in her lungs) or a Cerebrovascular Accident (stroke). I eventually pronounced her dead a few hours later. Really sad state of affiars. So, as the law requires, death ocurring within 24 hours of admission to hospital is an indication for a Coroner’s Autopsy. So, had to do the paperwork to arrange for that yesterday. First time since I have been in practice that I have had to request a Coroner’s Autopsy. But, I guess it is part of my work. Was not easy to inform her relatives of her demise at all……

So, it was a ruff weekend and I still tiyad…but a so it go.

Am flashing tomorrow evening to Ft. Lauderdale, back on Sunday. Don’t look for any posts before then, it naw go happen. Other than that, man jus a do what him have to do. Drop me a few comments and keep on doing your part for Jamaica Land We Love and mankind at large.

Deeply buried heads!

Bwoy, I find miself wid likkle bit o time…and though I shudda be here typing a document (which can wait a bit) I have decided to yow y’all up. Well, man been enjoying his new ride…no complaints from my corner at all.

Had a patient las week…she be all of twelve. We thought of placing her on a drug which in order to for us to do so, we have to ensure that the patient nuh pregnant. Well, likkle thing came with her Mother (after all, she is a pickney still…)…so we explaining/discussing the situation to she and Mother. Well, Mother is there laughing cause she says that there is no way her little cherub could be pregnant as she still a virgin (of course, that is as far as she know….) and all she do is bury she head deep inna school book! When I was examining the girl, I asked her quietly if she having sex, and she replied in the affirmative….and she doh know if the yute using boots!

Anyhow, long and short of it, after nuff convincing and coercing, Mother allowed us to let her have a urine pregnancy test. Well, no surprizes, it was positive. Course, mother doh believe the result, seh is mistake……she waan another doctor’s opinion.

Called the folks in Obs and Gynae who agreed to see her following morning. I wrote the referral letter and she was seen following day. Well, the Doc called me to say they did an Ultrasound, and little miss had about a 14 week gestation….so a reasonably large loaf a bread baking inna de oven. So, now I guess Mother realize that Missy head not too deeply buried in school book…..in fact, if anything, is de yute ‘head’ that buried deep inside of she. Well, I doh know what they decided to do, but I have my suspicions…….

Apart from that little tale, I doh have much more to share. My head (the bigger one ) been deeply buried in work and other stuff as well, hence my infrequency! Anyway, whatever you do with your head, keep it safe, keep it standing high, and enjoy it as well. Tek dat any way you want!

Yes mah peeps, my new auto esta en casa! Trus me, I got her yesterday, and like a man who jus done get a good dose of the goodly stuff, I am beaming a wide smile! 2003 Honda Accord, Navy Blue, 2400cc VTEC engine, a set that can test any disco (play a decent CD in deh and you feel the power to rass!). Anyway, let me stop. It has been a long wait, but worth it. Thanks be to the Big Guy for providing me with the strength to work to earn the breads to pay for it. I of course have returned the Skyline which was a decent ride as well. When I get time, I will post a shot…trus me, there is nuff happnin in my corner of the woods, so man been busy like a worker bee, doing his stuff for the Queen. Next week I tekkin a short trip to Ft. Lauderdale. Anyway, right now I haffi seh…tek it easy until next time……have to go get ready to mount the ride….umm…sorry, that should be, go to work! Cool breeze!

Stiff!

Now, those of you who know me well enough may be wondering if I am referring to my manhood as being stiff….sorry to disappoint the ladies but it isn’t (at least not at the moment!) OK, so what am I trying to get across to you all? For some strange reason, since about 11:30 AM today, the right side of my jaw (in the region of the masseter muscle…the one that you use for chewing) is painful and stiff. It hurt nuh rass for me to have my lunch today….some healthy BBQ KFC with cole slaw. Chewing is painful and difficult. Is not a tooth problem….jus went dentist last week Monday and had mi teeth cleaned and all else seemed Ok. I was watching it initially to see if it would guweh…but it hasn’t. So, I got a colleague to write me a script for some Voltaren (Diclofenac) SR 75mg bd, and I took that along with two Beserol (a muscle relaxer mixed with Paracetamol) and had that with my dinner…which luckily happened to be chicken soup. I could hardly chew the solid stuff in the soup. I hope things feel less stiff in a while or I man a go start get worried….(one of the few times I can think of a man wanting to not be stiff eeh?) Anyhow…I hope that I will see some improvement in a while….

Had the displeasure of driving on South Camp Road last week Thursday to go to private practice. Seems it has been dug up to lay pipes (there I go again…) for the upcoming World Cup Cricket (a sport that doh too thrill me) but the road has been reduced to a dirt track and dustbowl. It took me all of ten minutes to make it to turn left on to Windward Road and this was in the Skyline: there was no traffic (I suppose all who knew about the state of the road avoided it). Now, the reason I went that way is ’cause of the ‘ruption that was a gwaan with rival gangs near the end of Mountain View Raod the day before. So, as one man who really nuh have plans to find out how stray shot (or any shot for that matter) feel, I took South Camp Road as an alternative. Naw go deh Thursday dis week doh…..suppose you saw the dust on the cyar when I reached the office…and the vehicle did jus done wash! Aaah bwoy. I hope the road will be restored to some semblance of order before March…or it will be a national embarressment!

Re my wheels…..vehicle was finally cleared from the wharf today…apparently there is now a whole heap of red tape involved that did not exist previously…..rude yute called to say that the vehicle looks kriss. So, I will have to be looking about paperwork between regular work tomorrow, so that I can have her ready to tour by Friday nite of this week….with all documentation in place. Keeping fingers, toes and other appendages crossed! ;-)

Other than that, I been aite, been having some good days at work, most of my patients (public and private) are doing well, so that at the end of the day, I man feel seh me mekkin a difference….it does help to give you some impetus to go to work……plus, today was payday….so there was that to look forward to as well.

Bwoy, I been typing for about fifteen minutes or so, and this jaw still feel stiffish and a bit painful…maybe I shudda go hol a lay down or watch some TV for a while…least it may help to take my mind off it. OK, off to destiff….

Another week winds…

…down, as its TGIF. This one, finds me on call….my weekend for the month of January. So, things will be relatively quiet for me this one.

Mi wheels still haven’t been cleared from the wharf…am told there is a serious backlog….anyway, in the meantime, the yute that I am buying the car from has now loaned me a Nissan Skyline. Now, I tell you, it is not the most pleasant eye candy kinda car….but it powerful out rahtid. I tell you, the press mek a man blood surge to rass! It is a sweet ride and the front end nice and tight…..(I wonder where my mind is? smily ) The auto presses your back to the seat almost like when a commercial airliner is powering up for takeoff. (OK, I am exaggerating, but you get the feel…) I don’t mind it at all, is a nice likkle ‘hol me ’till the real deal reach!

I pripsed the Gleaner this morning……I see some items that make me realize that the New Year is here, but nuff tings remain same ole, same ole. smily Here is the first one. All I can say is that I am not surprised…after all, things will soon be heating up to elections. When will this ever change?

The second item is of a similar nature…more guns…. note the reference to him as a ‘Gunboy’ Actually, the term I use is schoolman and schoolwoman, as it seems there are no schoolchildren anymore……they lack guidance, they have no parents and poor role models. Aaah bwoy.

Anyhow, all is not lost….one item I saw made me grin for our country, as Asafa P is going to be honoured in the Big Apple at a ceremony next month. Congrats rude dood! Keep our flag flying high! smily After all, it is Friday and soon we should all be getting into weekend mode. Take it easy.

Mannersable…..

Yow, what’s up? I am here having dinner after nine in the night (yeah, I know it is late to be having dinner, and I will probably gain weight by doing so…but a so it go….) I just got home because as I was driving by King’s House on the way home from private practice, Legal Aid (one of my cousins) called me. He was at Veranda’s (a local watering hole on Trafalgar Road), he had made an after work stop on the way home and was in need of drinking partner…..it is kinda hard as a single man, who happened to be also on the way home from work (and not on call to the hospital) to say no, worse of all, this man name fambily. So, I told him I’d make a detour and link him in ten minutes.

I reached…….much more quiet scene compared to Friday gone when I was there also….(for the first time in ’bout three months)…place did ram Friday…could not get a seat at the bar or elsewhere. Anyhow, Legal Aid was having Guinness; I ordered a half Q of VX with agua de coco (coconut water) as chaser. We chatted some stuff of mutual interest and left there after an hour or so at a few minutes to nine. So me deh a yard now…….

Which leads me on to the title of the post. I have been at this blog thing for almost four years now (and to be honest, I had no idea I would still be at it), though I must admit that I lack the zeal presently, that I had when I had just started. What I really want to ask though, and I am throwing this out to everyone in blogland who may just happen to pass here….. Do you consider there to be an unwritten code of ethics in blogging? Say for instance, I happen to pass by your site and lick you with a comment or two. I may be a new reader and may not pass back again for a time t? Do you consider it acceptable blog ethics to pass by my site and leave a cordial remark…say, “Thanks for passing my site and commenting. I will try to come back here?” (Trus me, it can be a lie too ’cause there is nutten to say I have to like your blog or vice versa.) When I had started this thing…a so it did go. But perhaps it may be changing. The way I was raised, it was the sign of somebody who was ‘mannersable’ (well bred) to do so. Now mark you, all bloggers don’t have to tek tea (get along).

As bloggers, we are individuals, and in the same way that we may meet someone and not be drawn to them, we can get a feel that we like or dislike another blogger by the tone of their posts, the things they write about, etc. In addition, bloggers may differ in age, opinions, stations in life, interests etc. But I thought that it was just neighbourly to go visit another blogger’s part of cyberspace if they had come to mine. A jus so mi Modda did raise me. When people come to you yard, you seh good evening….even if you may not like them. I doh know….maybe me jus too ‘mannersable’. Anyway….my thought at the moment. Quite possibly the post for the week too……..any feedback? (And I’m not quite sure how the hell this came about in the first place…….. smily ) Night.

First for…

…the year. I won’t bother to call it ‘New’ as it seems to me 2006 simply changed into 2007….this continuum called time. At midnite on the 31st (or is that 1st?) I was at a bredrin/cousin’s home having eaten nuff Chiney food at about 11:00 and I was on about my fourth VX and coconut water by the time the date changed and the fireworks and clappers was a shoot off and buss ’bout the place, lighting up the night sky intermittently. Was a close group of about twelve peeps, family and friends……that is how I think New Year’s Eve is to be spent…with peeps that are close to you. We all decided that we weren’t going to a party where we would have got lost like numbers in a Lottrey Drum….. A good time was had by all.

At about 2 AM….(some six or maybe seven VXs later) my self and a bredrin parted the company and headed for a second stop at a sistren’s yard where we were also invited to pass chru. We told her that we would see her and her sistrens early in the year….and so we did. By the time we got there, everyone in attendance did well juiced (including rude bwoy and miself)…so nuff laughing, ribbing, cussin and bad behaviour was a gwaan. Anyway, it was all in good fun. Made it home after 4 AM and had a chicken sandwich, nuff water and two Panadols before conking out.

So, today is January 4th already. Some good news…my wheels are presently in the island waiting to be cleared from the wharf…..I hope to have the krissas parked in the garage/on the road by some time next week.

Work is back to usual, then again, I shouldn’t say that. Clinic attendance seemed a bit lower than normal…probably the patients still drunk or in holiday mode. I guess by next week all will be back to bizniz as per…

Maybe is just me, but it seems that the beauty that the Christmas tree and lights had over the season seems to get lost so quickly once the holiday season passes? Of course, there now is the drudgery of having to remove the decorations and lights, and take down the tree and store it again for Christmas ‘07. Probably Sunday if I get the feel.

The mad people were out on the road over the season, but they are still doing dem crap now that the season done. Today, I was driving into Sovereign for lunch. I see a Sunny Taxi parked on the other side of the road. There is a silver Integra approaching the taxi…..(looks similar to my old wheels…the one that the engine got frig)….driver him cyaan wait. So, the prick decides to come round the taxi in a rush, almost hits me and then realizes that his space is tight. Eediat fassy nuh claat de taxi! All cause him couldn’t wait. I read the lips of the taxi driver…..nuff fabric did sell at some wholesale prices! Course, I continued on my merry way.

Got two late but nevertheless well received Christmas presents today. One from my sister….the two Kenny G CDs that were stolen (along with many others) when the phuckers broke in the house last year. So, I can now play some relaxing tunes when man get frus out. The other gift was from someone who I had helped out over the season. Man in his seventies who had developed a bout of gastroenteritis over the holidays. I had gone to his home and given him some medical attention to get him out of the lurge (this included setting up a drip and giving him some IV fluids). He got better pronto. Yesterday his wifey called me while I was at work saying I should pass by the house on the way home from work…she had a gift for me. So, I did. Got a bottle of Appleton Special Reserve! I can see me and the crew killing it.

Anyway, this post was perhaps stimulated by the fact that when I clicked on my site, I saw a blank page earlier. So, here is the first (of I can’t say how many) for 2007. All the other bloggers who still in holiday mode need to wake up for the year as well. Respec.
